About this Work
In the jokey_jokester series, the artist has elongated, translated, mutated, deconstructed and reconstructed the image. The resulting state is a virtual ruin, a remediated image whose decay signifies a long and episodic journey across networks.
About Femi Adeleye
Femi Adeleye is a London-based artist and 2020 graduate of Central Saint Martins, BA Fine Art, working with themes of Internet and network transfer. She explores digital technology as a tool that alters experience: a dynamic output that led to her winning the 2020 Sid Motion Gallery Award.
Adeleye pushes software to work badly. In doing so, she resists optimisation and productivity. She positions her work as an exercise in recalling memory, where event details overlap, transforming into new experiences just familiar enough to be mistaken as reality. Through curating and processing her own digital history, Adeleye interrupts the trajectory of past events to experience them anew, and with a new rhythm.
