Keys from the Found clues (from South and North) series, 2019
35 mm photograph printed on dibond, bronze hooks
180 x 98 x 20 cm
About this work
Keys is one of a two-piece installation series titled Found clues (from South and North), designed to question the sacred and the territory. The piece consists of a photograph of a key supported by two bronze hands. Within the work, bronze is present in different forms, evoking the symbolic, and somehow mysterious, meaning of the dangling key.
About Fiorella Angelini
Fiorella Angelini is a Chilean artist living and working in London. She is currently undertaking an MFA in Fine Art Media at the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, after being awarded a Chilean Government scholarship. She gained her BA in Fine Art from the Universidad Finis Terrae, Chile, in 2012. She has exhibited internationally, with recent exhibitions including those at the Czong Institute for Contemporary Art, Korea, the Sala de Arte CCU, Chile, Saatchi Gallery, London, and Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, London.
Angelini’s practice spans installation, photography and video. She pushes the boundaries of analogue photography, using it as a component within installation and sculptural pieces. Metals, plastics and natural fibres are just some of the materials the artist uses to transform her photographs into volumetric elements. Angelini’s work is concerned with problems that affect nature, territory, and identity, with particular reference to those in South America. Her main aim is to study the landscape, pulling from a wide range of images gleaned from her time spent in Europe, and her time spent in Latin America. Within this, the artist draws on themes of visibility, latency and memory. Her work speaks to the particularity of location – across place, myth and history – in the construction of identity.
