About this work
P.E.T.R.O.L is part of a wider body of work titled AE86, exhibited as part of The Slade School of Fine Art Online Graduate Degree Showcase 2020. AE86 is a metaphorical vehicle for understanding the back roads and architecture of rural Ireland as spaces of intoxication. The body of work is titled after a popularised automobile that is prominent in Irish car culture, the Toyota AE86. The work examines these cars, back roads and garages as stages where one performs acts such as play, glamour or destruction.
